Sebagai lembaga eksekutif di Universitas Andalas, maka sudah selayaknya lembaga yang dipimpin oleh seorang presiden mahasiswa yang dipilih oleh 21.000 mahasiswa Unand ini menjalankan fungsinya dalam melayani, memfasilitasi serta menjadi wadah aspirasi mahasiswa. disamping itu peningkatan hubungan kekeluargaan diantara elemen mahasiswapun harus dibangun melalui komunikasi yang baik.

Minggu, 12 mei 2013 diselenggarakan acara pelantikan dengan upaya mengukuhkan pengurus baru BEM KM Unand Kabinet Solid dan Responsif periode 2013/2014. Acara diadakan pukul 08.00 sampai selesai dan diadakan di Ruangan Seminar PKM Lantai 1 Universitas Andalas Padang.
